“Once, we had to depend on middlemen and high-interest loans just to keep our small craft business going. The training and support from BCT-GIC gave us the confidence to manage our money, improve our products and reach better markets. With the ₹1 lakh loan facilitated by BCT, we were able to stop borrowing from middlemen and sell our palm crafts directly to Chennai & Kolkata. Today, our hard work has become a sustainable livelihood, and I feel proud that we can support our family and build a better future for our daughter.”

" After taking up natural farming in my own plot, it was a challenge in motivating others to take it up. However, after taking training at BCT KVK i started mobilising other farmers and women in my village to take up Natural Farming. With GIC's entrepreneurship training, I have now a clear understanding of utilising local resources to build my products and also sell to farmers from the region. Today we are selling natural pesticides, fertilisers from our own backyard.

GIC provided ₹39 lakh in funding and facilitated an opportunity to install Jalaprayah at RARS–ANGRAU. This enabled us to develop, demonstrate and validate our technology in a credible agricultural environment. Such practical support can significantly advance an early-stage technology startup.

About Bhagavatula Charitable Trust (BCT)

Bhagavatula Charitable Trust (BCT) is a non-profit organisation working with tribal and rural communities across Andhra Pradesh since 1976. Through integrated programmes in education, agriculture, disability rehabilitation, vocational training, and livelihoods, BCT has touched 1,30,000+ lives across 137 villages.

With its focus on ‘Rural prosperity for India’s growth’, Bhagavatula Charitable Trust (BCT) is a non-profit, non-sectarian social service organization involved in transforming rural Andhra Pradesh. Established in 1976, our five-decade-long journey has centered on diverse aspects that impact development and enhance the quality of life for people in rural Andhra Pradesh, especially in the Visakhapatnam district. Working with a participatory approach, our integrated rural development programs nurture change agents within villages and create a paradigm for replication both nationally as well as internationally.Founded by Dr. BV Parameswara Rao, BCT has conducted over 100 pilot programs, a few of which have become models for replication across the country. These include women's self-help groups (precursor to DWCRA & SHG), rural banking, wasteland development, development of literacy primers etc. Today BCT continues to focus its energies on education, livelihoods, support to specially-abled, agricultural communities and rural entrepreneurship models.
